Tree Plantation and Sustainability Drive in Dehradun
EcoGroup Society, in collaboration with Dehradun Smart City Limited, is actively conducting tree plantation drives, including a recent initiative at Parade Ground. The society has planted several medicinal species such as camphor, gulmohar, kaner, amaltas, kachnar, and cinnamon to enhance greenery and promote biodiversity. In addition to afforestation efforts, EcoGroup Society encourages waste segregation and repurposing waste into eco-bricks. As part of its community engagement, the society collaborated with students from the National Institute for the Visually Handicapped (NIVH) to raise environmental awareness. Highlighting the impact of climate change in Dehradun, Secretary Anil Mehta emphasized the need for planting trees that provide shade, absorb heat, and produce oxygen. With a strong commitment to sustainability, the society aims to plant and protect 500 trees during the upcoming monsoon season.
